Cat Found Wrapped in Duct Tape

This story was found on KTLA News
This happend in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Someone wrapped this poor animal in duct tape, not including the head, and dumped the cat off in someones yard. The cat is thought to be around 1-2 years old, and is female. She had to be sedated in order to get the duct tape cut off her body, done by workers at the Pennsylvania SPCA. One of the workers said that the duct tape came off pretty easily because it had not been on very long. The cat has been nicknamed "Sticky by PSPCA employees. There is a $1,000 reward for anyone with information that will lead police to the arrest of the man/woman responsible in this animal cruelty case.

My first reaction was, how can someone torcher an animal like that? As I read, it was sad, that someone could do something like that.

How can someone duct tape a cat like that, and think its ok? I'm sure whoever did this to Sticky has lost their mind(s). Did they ever think about how Sticky would be able to breath with the tape around her stomach? This is so sad, I could not ever do anything like this, and it makes me more sad to thing that someone out there actually took time out of their day to wrap this poor cat in duct tape. At least they had somewhat of decency to put the cat in someones yard, instead of just killing the cat.

Hopefully they put the cat in a better home, someone who will take care of her, and show her the affection she deserves.

4-month old baby killed in gang shooting

I found this report on KTLA News
A 4-month old baby boy named Andrew Garcia was killed during a shooting outside a gang party early Sunday Morning. Along with a man and pregnant woman, who were also shot. The shooting happened in the 14400 Block of Kittridge Street. This happened about 1:00 a.m. according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Station. Anna Contreras, 28 years old and pregnant, was feeding the baby of a friend of hers from inside a car. Eric Rimirez and other friends including mother and father of the infant, were standing outside the vehicle. The group got into a fight with two random men walking nearby, and one of the men opened fired with a shotgun. There were 6 shots fired, one hit baby Andrew, one hit the woman feeding him (Anna Contreras), and one hit Eric Rimirez. All three went to the hospital, but baby Andrew was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, where he later died. Others shot will survive. The cops have descriptions of what these two men look like, but they do not have them in custody. The report says, anyone with information about this crime is asked to call police.

My first reaction to this story was saddness. This poor baby didnt do anything wrong.

Why would some random stranger shot a 4-month old baby? This man who did this doesn't have a heart, and i believe this man deserves worse than the death penalty. If your fighting with someone in a gang and they decide to shot anyone, so be it, but why would you injury a baby? What does that do? Does it make him feel better? Wow, what a tough man that is, he killed a baby. I dont take lightly anything that has to do with children in the news. I hate that these poor children have to pay for their parents mistakes. If you think about it, it was 1 a.m. on sunday, which means mom and dad were out partying on a saturday night and got their baby killed by hanging out with people that the report said had a criminal background. Why would you even take a chance like that on risking your baby's life? Great parents. I dont understand why people are so stupid. There are people everywhere doing stupid stuff like this and risking their kids. And these kids can't protect themselves. What was baby Andrew supposed to do when mom and dad started mouthing off to strangers in the street? I belive some people probably shouldnt have children. At least Baby Andrew Garcia is now with God in Heaven. He is in better hands, and maybe this situation opened his parents eyes and made them realize, not to bring their 4 month old baby out on a saturday night in a gang neighborgood.

I can't believe some of the people out there who have children. There are thousands of people out there trying to have a baby and they cant. But we have complete idiots of parents out there, taking their babies out in the gang wars. Open your eyes people, if you can't take proper care of your child, then give him/her to the nearby church, or up for adoption. Don't risk your baby's life because your unfit.

8 million Americans consider suicide each year

I found this article on MSNBC News
A new government study shows that more than 8 million Americans seriously consider suicide every year. Each year there are about 32,000 suicides in the U.S., but a new study from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration have indicated that there are way more out there that have seriously considered the thought of suicide. The age range for people who have seriously considered this thought, in the last year, is 18-25 years old. This age group was a lot higher than the group 26-49 years old. Only 2.3 percent of people over the age of 50 consider suicide.

My first thought about this, was how true this probably is. There are so many people out there that give up so easily. Their lives get difficult and people stress, or get overwhelmed with their daily lives and they think it would be better to just put themselves out of their misery.

I had a friend once when i was 15 years old, try to kill himself by overdosing on pills. He ended up in the hospital, had his stomach pumped, and I ended up being the first person he called afterwards. I cried, because I was upset, confused, and hurt all at the same time. To me, which is completely my opinion and I hope to not offend anyone. But to me, if someone wants to kill themself, they will. If they "try" to kill themselves, then it is usually an attention cry for help. I'd hate to say that, only because it sounds so harsh, but it's the truth. However, I'm sure there are people out there that really, honestly believe that there is no other way. I guess people just get so clouded with their troubles and problems that they honestly believe they would be happier dead. Or that the people around them would rather them be dead. Although, I believe these are selfish people. If these suicidal people would take 5 minutes out of their time, and thought about the people around them they would be hurting, and leaving behind, I think they may rethink the thought of ending their life. My Uncle killed himself, he hung himself in his garage at his home. He left behind my Aunt, one son and one daughter. I know he doesn't realize the pain he left them with. They have to live the rest of their lives wondering what they did wrong, and/or what they could have done differently to make him change his mind. Going to his funeral was the hardest thing i've ever done. Seeing how upset my family was about this, and wondering why he did it. His son and daughter now have to grow up without their father. My Uncle called my Aunt minutes before he killed himself, leaving a message on her cell phone, because she was at work at that moment. By the time she got the message and got home, it was too late, he was gone. My Aunt now has to live the rest of her life thinking about the last image of him when she found him. No one should have to remember their loved one like that. And I don't believe anyone has the right to take their own life. No matter how difficult life is, there's always someone out there in the world, whose life is so much worse than your own. And who are you to hurt the people around you?

I know people who kill themselves, think there's no other option. But there is, and I wish people would get help before making such a big dicision that will make such an impace on the people who love you the most. I would never wish that kind of pain onto anyone.

Woman gets pregnant--while pregnant.

I found this story on MSNBC News.
Todd and Julia Grovenburg found out they were having a baby girl. After having an ultrasound, they found out they are now having two babies. The ultrasound revealed there was a male fetus, which was conceived 2 1/2 weeks after the first conception. The roport says this is a rare condition cause Superfetation, but is possible. Due dates are, end of 2009 and early 2010.

My first thought about this story was, is this possible? I continued to read and was very surprised to find out it was possible, and is happening now.

This is an amazing story. I have never heard of this, nor did i ever think it was possible. Guess it makes you think twice to think that you can't get pregnant if your already pregnant lol. I'm still not sure how the due dates will work so close together. When she does go into labor, won't the second baby boy come along with the first baby girl? I guess worst case scenario, the second baby will be born a couple weeks early. Unless both come earlier than the first due date, due to complications. Then the second baby could be born way to early. I would imagine a situation like this would cause a very rough pregnancy on its own. Never know, she may have a perfect pregnancy and the babies born perfect. I still couldn't imagine having two due dates for one pregnancy. This is outrageous. Such a miracle for something like this to happen. "Here's how it happens--egg and sperm, implant. Of course, that's your first pregnancy. But if you ovulate more than one time a month--and women do--and a sperm happens to meet that egg and they, too implant, guess what, you get a second fetus," says Snyderman, "You just have to hope it happens within that early window."

This couple is very lucky to have something so rare and special happen to them. It is amazing to be blessed with one baby, let alone two. And to have separate due dates for the same pregnancy is so neat as well. What a neat story to share with those kids when they get older. God bless this couple with their pregnancy, and we pray that they have their babies safely, and that the pregnancy goes well for Julia. Congratulations to both of them!

Retired Doctor Kills Wife

This story I found was different from the other stories I blog about
A retired medical doctor, shot and killed his bedridden wife in the head to " end her suffering" on Sunday. Dr. James Clyde Fish used a small caliber handgun when he shot his wife at the Leisure World Retirement Community in Laguna Woods. He is now being charged with voluntary manslaughter, according to authorities. Dr. Fish is 90 years old, and his wife, Phyliss Loveland Fish, was 88 years old. Phyliss Fish was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, had a debilitating stroke several years before, and suffers from dementia. After shooting his wife in the head, Dr. Fish then shot himself in the head as well. When the deputies showed up, he was still alive. He is expected to recover from his shot, and serve up to 21 years in state prison if convicted.

My first thought about this story, was how sad it was, that this man was going to be charged for doing this.

I cannot believe this man is going to be charged for putting his wife out of her misery. You know that you would do the same thing, and so would about 90% of American. It would be so hard to see your loved one laying there dying and being in pain, and nothing you could do about it. I dont think this man should be charged for this because he is already to old to learn a lesson from it, and because he didn't kill his wife out of hatred, or spite. He helped her get to Heaven, and helped relieve the pain she was in. I couldn't imagine having my husband sitting next to me, being in that state. It would be hard for me to kill him myself, but i know if he were begging me to because he was in to much pain to bare, or because he didn't want to live laying in a bed, being completely useless, i would probably have to put him out of his misery. But i would do the same as Dr. Fish and shoot myself as well. I wouldnt want to live without my husband. And being 90 years old, he's had his long life already and there's really not much for a 90 year old person to do anymore. It's kinda like Romeo and Juliet in a way. Dr. Fish wanted to go to Heaven with his wife.

Although some people wouldnt look at it that way, some probably believe that he won't go to Heaven because he killed someone. But I honestly believe that God will make an exception for this crime.

Car crashes into restaurant

Caught on tape: Car Crashes into Downtown L.A. Restaurant
KTLA.com Story
At the intersection of 7th and Flower street, a white car and a red van crashed together. The impact sent the white sadan into Wakcano restaurant. The driver climbed out of his vehicle on his own and was sent to the hospital, while at least two others who were inside the restaurant were injured. The woman inside the van was hurt more seriously than the guy in the white sadan. But both were taken to the hospital for furthur examination. A traffic officer said one of the cars ran a red light, althought, was not said which car it was.

This is one topic i get upset about. People running red lights. Right before I got married, almost 15 months ago, my now husband and I drove our car to a car rental place, to rent a car for a the weekend. We were getting married in Sullivan, MO, which is 3 1/2 hours away, and were going to St. Louis to get on a plane the next day for our honeymoon in Aruba. Our insurance on our car had expired like a week or so before. Which is why we went to rent one for the long drive to Sullivan. Anyways, after renting a Charger :), my husband drove it back to the house and i was driving our Intrepid back to the house. I was doing the speed limit, used my blinker when needed and wasnt doing anything wrong. A cop happen to be behind me and pulled me over. When he came to my window, he asked for license, registration, and proof of insurance. But he never told me what he pulled me over for. I was to nervous to realize it then. I gave him all three, and was told my insurance had expired. Well long story short, I got a ticket and 2 points against my license, for driving without insurance on my vehicle. The whole point to this long story was that people out there are running lights, driving drunk, doing any and everything possible that they shouldnt be. Yet the cops still find time to pull over innocent drivers. I had never had a ticket before that. I'm always a careful driver. I see people all the time in Joplin who run lights at the last minute. I've also see people go after a light has been red, even when a cop is at the light. Cops dont do anything. So why did i get pulled over? There was no reason. I'm so mad even to this day in time, over a year later, about this because its crap. I have 2 points on my license and i've never been in an accident, or had a ticket besides that one. But cops dont pull over people who run red stop lights. Look what happens when cops arent strict on light running. I think if they pulled over more people for running lights, then people would take it more serious and stop doing to. It may even have prevented the accident in this story. Someone ran a red light and because of that, this restaurant has to pay for it.

Sorry about this long story about my ticket. But i get so mad all the time thinking about it. I see people running lights all the time, and i think about my ticket, and getting pulled over for no reason, when there are so many people out there who deserve the ticket way more than I do. I hope cops see what running a red light can do, and get more strict on it.

Audrina Patridge's Alleged Stalker Arrested

This story was found on ktla.com
Audrina Patridge is an MTV star, on the show, "The Hills". Patridge and her brother, Mark, filed had a temporary restraining order put on Zachory Loring, "the alleged overzealous fan" in Los Angeles County Superior Court last thursday. Requiring Loring to stay within 100 yards of Patridge and her brother both. Loring was arrested on Tuesday in Sonoma County for 2 outstanding warrents for vandalism and disturbing the peace, says Kimbra Johnson (spokesperson for the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department).

I can't believe this is happening. For one thing, "The Hills" is one of my favorite shows.

Audrina is so beautiful, that it doesnt suprize me that she has a stalker. It does get to me though, to think about all the other girls who have stalkers. Why are people so dumb? Why do guys insist on obsessing over a girl? I don't think they realize how traumatic this could be and is for any girl. Guys need to learn to keep their distance. They definitaly aren't going to get a date if their stalking the girl they like. All that is doing is scaring the girl away. Or causing a temporary restraining order, like this situation. Patridge said this man showed up on her doorstep on several occasions. Such as bringing beer that his family made because he wanted to see her drink it....???....what a freak. August 30th, Loring showed up at her house wearing a suit. She called the cops and he was arested. I don't think he gets the point. Sometimes people are really messed up in the head. Loring waited 7 hours once outside Audrina's house for her, only to be watched, by surveilance cameras, talking to himself. Now i would say this man has lost his mind. Why can't people just keep their distance? We'll never know.

I hate that Audrina was getting stalked like that, even though im sure it's not the first or last time. But i guess it's something tv stars have to accept when they become famous. Hopefully she has better security and maybe a couple body gaurds by her side at all time. I know if i were famous i would want the best security possible.

New Orleans officer fired in '05 beating can go back to job

I found this story on CNN
This officer was fired for beating an unarmed man on Bourbon Street in 2005. Robert Evangelist appealed the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the ruling wednesday allows him to return to his job as a police officer. Robert Davis' beating was recorded by Associated Press, and Evangelist lost his job as an officer. He was then charged with false imprisonment while armed with a dangerous weapon, and second-degree battery. As of July 2007, he was acquitted of those charges. Robert Davis' attorney is Stephen Bruno, who commented about Evangelist, after hearing about the appeals court hearing, saying, " He is not fit to be a school crossing guard. He does not have the moral character to be police officer, and have the power and the force to have a gun and a taser."

My first reaction to this story was; how could they let someone, who they fired for a reason, have his job back?

As I read this story I remember hearing about this man being beaten for no reason. This man wasnt armed, nor was he causing a threat to these officers. I also remember seeing this video on the news. I cannot believe this is happening. Cops are basically put on a pedistule. They get away with so many things that a regular civilion couldnt. Such as beating an innocent person. If this story was the other way around, and that man had beat the cop instead, then he would have serious charges against him. And there is no way possible that he would have gotten the charges dropped. Things like these are where some people get mad and disagree with it. I know there are so many people reading that story and thinking how awful this country is getting, and how this cop should not have gotten his job back. I dont believe this cop should have gotten his job back. The other cop involved, Lance Schilling, comitted suicide 2 years later. Why did he commit suicide? Did he know he did something wrong? Was he to ashamed to face the justice that should have been done. Maybe he didnt want to go to jail with the other people he put in jail. If only he would have waited a little bit longer, then they would have offered him his job back and taken all the charges away.

I hope someone realized how wrong this is and does something about it. I cannot believe something like this could happen. What does this tell other cops? That since their "cops" then they can do what they want, when they want. I feel for the man who was beat by Evangelist. Justice was not served in this situation. :(

9/11 once again

Tears and raindrops mix at 9/11 ceremonies
This story is about September 11th, 2001.

It is the 8th anniversary of September 11th. when the terrorists attacked our twin towers, our Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field. Where almost 3,000 people died. President Barack Obama signed an order, making 9/11 a National Day for everyone to remember. And this year was the first official "National Day". The names of all the victums were read, as the families stood together in the rain. They also had a moment of silence at the exact minutes the towers were hit, 8:46 am, and 9:03 am. Along with two more silences at the moment the towers fell. The memorial is still under construction at this time, but should be open and ready for the 10th anniversary. I tried going to page 2 of this story, and it wouldnt let me. So i went back to page 1, and theres a different story but same title. Not exactly sure what happend, but this is all I got from the first page.

While reading this story. It just makes me sad for all the people who lost their lives, along with their families who mourn them everyday. Today expecially. And this is when Americans come together and support the friends and families around us in rememberance of September 11th, 2001.

I believe this is a time in America, where for once, American comes together as a whole. This is the day everyone will remember. I'm sure everyone remembers where they were, the emotion around them, and exactly how they felt at that momment. I know I do. I was only in 8th grade. We had computer desks in rows from the front to the back of the classroom, and I was sitting on the right side of the room towards the front. I remember my teacher getting the news and turning on the projector to the white pull down screen on the board. My entire class watched the news before the plane hit the second tower. I remember the way I felt, I was scared, confused, and very upset. My teacher was crying, as were we. It's amazing how something like this can stick in your head, even as a 14 year old in 8th grade. I don't remember much from Middle School, but that is one thing that i will remember for the rest of my life. That goes for all Americans. We will never forget. We will always remember the one's who we've lost, and we will mourn for years to come. Every 9/11 I take time to get online and look up pictures from that day. My way of remembering.

I'm going to end this with a quote from the report, "On this day, let us renew our determination to prevent evil from returning to our shores."

Drunk Mother Breast-Feeding 6 week old baby

I found this story on ABC News about a woman breast-feeding her baby while she was drunk.
Police found Stacey Anvarinia breast-feeding her 6 week old baby when drunk, while responding to a domestic disturbance call at her home. Where she tells police she had been assulted by her boyfriend, who was not there at the time. She was arrested and later pleaded guilty to child neglect, and faces up to 5 years in prison. Now, other women are questioning if "modest drinking" could risk a criminal charge for themselves. A retired OB, Dr. Amy Tuteur, who has been following the case says, "since when is breast-feeding while drunk a crime?" "Drinking to the point of intoxication, or binge drinking, by breast-feeding mothers has not been adequately studied," in published advice to mothers. The American Academy of Pediatrics says "excessive alcohol consumption by a breast-feeding mother can lead to drowsiness, deep sleep, weakness, and abnormal weight gain in an infant." Dr. Lori Feldman-Winter said " after drinking a glass of wine, a woman should obstain from breast-feeding for 2-3 hours." Police never did a blood-alcohol test on Anvarinia, so they don't really know how much she had to drink.

My first response to this story was that I couldn't believe a mother would get drunk and breast-feed her baby. Maybe some women are not meant to have children.

My reaction did not change much throughout the story, just made me realize how stupid some people are. If you chose to have a child then you know not to drink while your pregnant, because the baby will receive everything you eat/drink. So if your breast-feeding your baby....same thing! Why would a woman risk her baby's health so she could get drunk? What's more important drinking, or feeding your baby? If you want to go out and drink for the night, then make sure you have a babysitter, and formula so the baby won't get alcohol in his/her system. This story upsets me so much because i have a 7 month old baby myself. I dont breast feed, nor do i drink, but if i decided to breast-feed, then that would mean giving up drinking for my baby's health purposes. Any real mother would have know better, and thought more about their baby then themselves. And as far as the police not doing a blood-alcohol test on her, even if she weren't completely intoxicated, she still should'nt have been breast-feeding while drinking a little bit. I am 22 years old and i know better than to do something that could injure my baby, and this girl is 26 years old. What was she thinking? Grand Forks Police Lt. Rahn Farder says, "This case is more than just the breast-feeding. It was the totality of the circumstances. It is quite unusual for a mother to be breast-feeding her child as we are conducting an investigation, whether she was intoxicated or not." (Boyfriend assult investigation). I'm sorry, but if my boyfriend assulted me, and my baby was hungry while the police officers were there, and I wasnt drunk of course, then i would probably go ahead and breast-feed my baby. I'm not going to let my baby starve. However, there are ways to do it and still be private about it, such as putting a blanket over the baby's body and over my shoulder, so nothing is seen. That is one thing I disagree with in this story.

All in all, she deserved what she gets, and hopefully other mothers learn from her mistakes, and put their babies first. If you want to breast-feed......DON'T DRINK. Lesson learned! :)

# of Americans on Food Stamps Rises

More than 35 million Americans receive assistance with food, using food stamps. The number of people receiving food stamps has increased by 22% sense June, 2008. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is a program that helps cover grocery costs for poor Americans. The USDA distributed more than $4.6 billion in food stamps in the month of June. The reports states, "persons or households who have a gross monthly income of 130% or less of the U.S. poverty level are eligible for food stamps". And all of this is said to be because "a sign that Americans continue to struggle with the country's economic downturn."

I dont understand why so many Americans are on food stamps, and depend on them so much. As I read more I still didnt understand why, and I know I have my opinion about food stamps myself.

I have seen so many people who are on food stamps, who dont necissarily need them to survive. Everyone has their time in their lives where they struggle, or have to set a really good budget to make sure they can feed their family. I have a very strong opinion about food stamps. I know i dont want my family to ever be on them. I understand people who have disabilities and receive food stamps to help them get buy without an income. Or someone who just lost their job, who needs a little help from the government to make sure their family survives. But these people who receive them who could actually pay for their own food? I believe this is stealing. I can think of two people I know very well who are on food stamps who shouldnt be. One of which, for instance, claims two children who she doesnt even have primary custody over. She receives food stamps to help, and she has plenty of money to pay for her own food. Another who is on food stamps and and has two incomes coming into the household and goes out and buys four-wheelers and other toys.

I know food stamps should be something that helps people who are in need. But i truely believe that Americans have taken it to the next level of taking advantage of it. People realize they dont need to work as hard, and the government will feed them. I believe we are giving out free food for people who dont deserve it, and i think they should cut the cost and only give food stamps to the deserving people who really are struggling.
