Girl Escapes Attacker by Kicking Him in Groin

I found this story on KTLA News.

This story was about a 16 year old girl who was walking home from school around 4:45pm. She was on Cortez Street near Prospero Drive when a man drove up in a blue Toyota Camry and offered her a ride. The girl declined his offer and the man stepped out of his vehicle and grabbed her arm in an attempt to put her in his car. In reflex the girl pushed him, the mystery man then slapped the 16 year old girl across her face; she then kicked the man in the groin and ran away. The police said the man is Latino, between 30-35 years old, brown eyes, brown wavy hair, thick eyebrows, and a medium build. This man was also last seen wearing a black, zippered hooded sweat shirt and baggy blue jeans. The report has a sketch picture of what he looks like. He drives a late model, 4-door Toyota Camry. Police are now recommending that students who walk home after school, now stay in groups and be aware of their surroundings. The report has the numbers to call if anyone has information about this.

My first response to this story was, good for her. This is something every teenager should know, or every adult should know as well.

There are so many kids whom get kidnapped because they cannot defend themselves. I think all schools and colleges should teach self defense classes for free for everyone. I believe everyone should have a fair chance to defend themselves in a bad situation. I know Missouri Southern was offering a class to help a woman defend herself against becoming a rape victim. This is something everyone should know. And with as many kids getting kidnapped or even raped for that matter, they should have some type of defense to protect themselves or a friend. College is a dangerous situation as well. Lots of people take night classes and you never know what crazy person is standing next to your car when you leave class, or if there is someone standing outside of the dark building you just walked out of. I remember when I was taking night classes and I was very cautious because I have a problem trusting people, especially in that kind of situation. I always loved when my husband picked me up from class because I felt safer. And if my husband couldn’t pick me up and I had to drive myself, I always called him as soon as I got out of class so if something happened then he would know and be able to call for help. He always knew where my classes where and if something happened, then he would know where I was when it happened. Not to mention I always checked my vehicle before I got in it. Our vehicle as soon as you hit the unlock button on the keychain thing, the inside lights would come on and I would look in the car before getting in.

Thank God this girl had the courage to try to defend herself. It was something small like a kick in the groin to get this man to leave her alone; and this could have saved her life. Let’s just hope that this story reaches out to parents and kids everywhere to prepare for a situation like this.
