Robber Returns Money to Store Clerk 6 Months Later

New York story from KTLA News.
This story was about a man who tried to rob a Shirley Express convenience store. The owner of the store, Mohammad Sohail, had an unloaded shot gun he used to defend him self from this man trying to rob him with a baseball bat. Sohail used the gun to force the guy on the ground to protect his store, in doing so, the main tearfully pleaded with Sohail saying, "I'm sorry, I have no food. I have no money. My whole family is hungry. Don't call the police. Don't shoot me." Sohail felt bad for the man, so he gave him a loaf of bread and $40 to help him out. As Sohail went to the back of the store to get the man some milk, the robber fled the store with only the bread and money. On Wednesday, 6 months later, this unknown man returned a 50 dollar bill and a letter to Sohail. The letter was an apology letter from the robber which the report said, "it was out of desperation to provide for his family. His life has changed drastically and that Sohail's acts inspired him to become a 'True Muslim."

This is a sad story, but at the same time it's still a crime what the man did. This to me is actually a sad story, of a man in need.

This man tried to rob a convenience store with a baseball bat. The store owner was generous enough to give him money and food, and the man still got away. Is this a bad story or a good story? Obviously if it weren't for Sohail's shot gun, who knows what this man would have done. As I've heard, "desperate times call for desperate measures." This man was hungry, his family was hungry, and he had no money to support them. All, or at least most, men want to be the providers in the household. They want their family to have the things they need, and they want to feel like a man by being able to take care of their family. As desperate as this man was, who knows what he would have done, if the owner had not pulled a shot gun on him. He may have hurt Sohail trying to provide for his family. But I think if I were in the same situation, I may have given the man some money and food as well. There aren't a lot of people out there who would have given this unknown robber anything. I bet a lot of people who rob stores probably are desperate for help and have no one to turn to.

This isn't a good thing that this man tried to rob a store, but it turned out to be a good story. It kind of makes you feel for the man. I'm curious if his wife saw this in the news, or heard about it from someone else, or if the man even told her about it. I know there are shelters for homeless people, and food stamps and so on, but this man obviously wasn't trying to get help from either or. At least it is good to see this man used the generosity that was shown to him to change his life. Lets hope he never does anything like that again, and gets his life straightened out. Thank God for generous people like Mohammad Sohail.
