Workers Dig Through 10 Tons of Trash to Find Lost Ring

I found this story on KTLA News.
This happened in Parsippany, NJ. Bridget Pericolo put her ring in a cup that her husband, Angelo, through out in the garbage before leaving for work the morning. After realizing what he did he contacted the town's sanitation supervisor to see what he could do to get the ring back. The supervisor told him to come by their local dumb. Supervisor Michael Brotons, and workers Edgar Lopez and Joseph McGee dug through the 10 tons of trash looking for Angelo's bag. This couple had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

My first reaction to this story was surprised and sad for the lady who lost her ring. It showed a picture of the ring on the article and it's covered in diamonds. I would hate to lose a ring like that for sure.

I'm still curious why she didn't have her wedding ring on, and why the old man threw it away. I imagine if she took it off at night because of her fingers maybe swelling, then she probably put her ring in the same cup every night. Although this couple has been married for 55 years, I'm sure he forgot. I think it is sweet they went through the trouble of finding this ring for this couple. Such a small item to look for in such a big pile of trash. Not sure I would have been able to find it myself.

I hope this couple figures out a new place for her ring when she's not wearing it. It looks like such a pretty ring; I'd hate to see a couple married for that long lose something of such value to them.

  1. I agree a wedding ring is something you keep near and dear to you. You would almost feel naked or lost without it on. I feel worse for the old man than the woman, I bet she let him have it for losing her ring.
