Cops: Woman Faked Breast Cancer, Used Donations for Implants

This happened in Waco, TX. Trista Joy Lathern, 24-year-old woman who faked having breast cancer to raise money to get breast implants for herself. She spent $10,000 raised from a benefit to get her breast enlarged. The report says, "McLennan County sheriff's investigator James Pack says in court records that 24-year-old Trista Joy Lathern shaved her head to look like a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy." Lathern says she wants breast implants to try to save her 7 month marriage. She is being charged with theft by deception.

My first reaction is how sad that was, and how ignorant and selfish this woman was.

Not only is she ignorant and selfish, but she took $10,000 from a breast cancer benefit. How can someone do that? My grandmother had breast cancer twice. And I also have a friend who had breast cancer, and got breast implants because the doctors had to take her breast to get rid of the cancer. She only got breast implants to keep herself feeling like a woman. Imagine getting your breast completely taken away from you, wouldn't you do the next best thing? I know I would have. But for this woman to take money that doesn't belong to her, and use it for her own benefit, that is so sad. What's even worse is she thinks this will save her marriage. I'm sorry, but if you have to do something this dramatic to save a 7 month marriage, then it probably isn't worth the time and effort. Not only is it not worth it, but her husband should feel like crap that his wife feels like she needs to do something like this, so he will approve of her body. This is the way a lot of men are now, they see all these plastic girls in playboy or on TV and they expect us woman to look like that. Guess I could say that she must really love this man. I was curious though when I read the story how they were going to handle this, because usually when someone steals something, they take back the stolen item. How can they take back breast implants? I guess they'll let her keep them, and she'll have to pay the money back, or she'll have to pay the money back and give the implants back.

What a story. People will stoop so low to get what they want. I'm curious if this saved her marriage, or if her husband will leave her for being so selfish and stupid.
