Nintendo Wii may work as well as real workout

This is a story from Orlando, FL.
The new Nintendo Wii is going to make a new healthier generation of kids. The new Wii Fit series is made to get people up off the couch, and get a moderate exercise in without even leaving the TV room. Motohiko Miyachi, head of the physical activity program at the National Institute of Health and Nutrition in Tokyo said, "It's a very easy and fun way to start exercising." He also said the time spent on this product, "may contribute to prevention of cardiovascular diseases." The report says, "The most effective exercise in the study was the single-arm stand featured in the Wii fit."

My first opinion about this article was how right it was. People need to get off the couch and do some exercise, and what a great way to do it then to play video games.

Our children of this century have been sitting around watching TV, or playing video games. A lot of our children aren't getting out and playing sports, or they are eating way too much McDonalds. We all love McD, but we also want to be thin and pretty, and we aren't going to do that sitting on our butts and eating fatty foods. At the end of the article Miyachi said, "Some physical activity, even of the video variety, is better than none." And I would have to fully agree with him. My daughter is to young too be in school, but my oldest son plays sports, and we get him out of the house as much as possible. We have had a Wii for almost 2 years now, and he loves to play it. It's something we can do as a family and be working out at the same time. Now we just need a Wii Fit, that's what I really want to get next. I think finding something fun and entertaining for kids is the best idea yet. There are way too many obese kids, and sometimes they just need a little help getting healthier.

I would suggest buying a Wii for any family, even if they aren't obese, or over weight. Even your non-over weight kids need to be energetic and healthy.

  1. I have a wii and my three year old gets plenty of exercise playing it. When i play with him I get winded and have to give up. The technology these days is so surprising on what they can come up with but I actually applaud Nintendo for creating something that is beneficial.
